If you’re feeling stuck in a relationship that troubles you or in a problem that just doesn’t seem to leave you alone – or if you’re lost in a crisis bigger than you can handle – help is at hand.

My name is Thom Herman, and as a therapist, I help individuals, couples, families and communities challenged with issues of depression, addiction and interpersonal conflicts. The clients in my private practice range in age from 10 to 80 and beyond.

All suffering comes from confusion, and counseling with me looks at the stories you tell about your confusion. Through investigating these stories, you learn to face reality, and in time, the stories, the confusion and the suffering let go of you.

You should also know that I treat the whole person, including looking at your nutrition, exercise, stresses and biochemical makeup. When drugs or alternative medical treatment appear appropriate, I might refer you to the kind of practitioner you feel comfortable with in order to help you regain your footing in life.

About 15-20% of my current practice consists of supervising other therapists. Psychologists and psychiatrists appreciate my 30 years of experience and my independence from today’s therapeutic traditions and structures. All my clients, including the therapists, appreciate my unique blend of compassion and confrontation, along with my firm belief that therapy must always contain the seed of its conclusion. We always aim our sights at life after therapy!

Therapy sessions can take place in person or over the phone. Besides working with individuals and couples, I also work with families and groups, such as a workplace, business partnership or community, that are experiencing suffering.
