While my formal training and education as a psychotherapist support my ability to counsel and coach individuals and groups, at least as important is what I have learned day after day in my work with my clients. In dealing with clients, I care without coddling, helping people work their way out of confusion so that they may experience less suffering. I continue working on myself so that I can offer what the person in front of me needs in that moment in order to move toward experiencing greater freedom and peace.

I have a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology. Three therapeutic approaches in which I have been involved or received additional training are:

•Re-Evaluation Counseling (also called Co-Counseling), from which I learned about the re-education and understanding of the healing qualities of feelings. I was actively involved in this movement for many years as a certified re-evaluation teacher and then as a teacher within alternative co-counseling communities.

•Spring Hill Retreat Center, which taught me to balance the two elements of catharsis and meditative recharge. I taught Spring Hill’s “Opening the Heart” workshops and served on the Board of Directors for 12 years.

•The Work of Byron Katie, from which I’ve gleaned how to investigate an old story that keeps you in jail. I have become certified to facilitate and to do trainings in this process. For the last five years, I’ve also facilitated a group within the local prison using this process of investigation.

In addition, I have had training in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, Gestalt and Rogerian therapies and various kinds of Breathwork.

I specialize in consulting about anxiety, sexual orientation, sexual issues, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and polyamorous alternative lifestyles, addictions, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), divorce, coming out, and depression, as well as crisis intervention. I work with individuals, families, and couples.
